Week 23

WEEK 23

Baby is the size of a large mango

Can't believe it's been 10 weeks since we announced our pregnancy!

How far along? 23 Weeks, 4 days
Total weight gain/loss: 13 lbs. ( from my ideal weight, 6 from when I actually started)
Maternity clothes? Bought a couple of shirts last night, they still feel too big but I wore one to work today :) Here I'm wearing skinny jeans and the belly band (because I cannot button these if you paid me!)

Stretch marks? No, moisturizing!
Sleep: Sleeping ok, still getting up to pee at least twice, blah
Best moment this week:  Having my family over, Wyatt's birthday/getting qualified as a USCG patrol officer celebration: Beer tour and appetizers at Lagunitas Brewery then some dinner and blackjack at the casino. Saturday night we went over to our friends house and Sunday we went to NASCAR!
Miss Anything? Drinking lol I actually wish I could, however, I won't. But I do occasionally have a non alcoholic beer :)

Movement: still very random, one night I'll feel her a lot before bed, sometimes I forget I'm pregnant because I don't feel her move as much (except for the bump lol). Couple of times this week she did kick my bladder though!
Food cravings: Cake, sweet stuff, kit kats, fruit still :) MANGO lol
Anything making you queasy or sick: cooking ....too many smells
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: HAPPY GIRLS
Looking forward to: Feeling more movements, going to SoCal and seeing family and friends.

Week Twenty Three: Sense of balance develops

You are 23 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 21 weeks)
  • He or she measures over 28cm and weighs up to 550 grams.
  • The baby is over 11 inches tall, weighs about a pound.
  • The eyebrows are visible.
  • The child can successfully suck.
  • Bones located in the middle ear harden.
23 weeksYour baby does a regular 'workout' inside your womb. He or she turns from side to side and head over heels. Thanks to a fully developed inner ear, which controls balance, your baby may have a sense of whether he or she is upside-down or right side up in the womb.

Skin pigment is now forming. The fetus is now proportioned like a newborn except it is a thinner version of a newborn baby since its baby fat has not developed much yet.

The pancreas, essential in the production of hormones, is developing steadily. Baby has begun producing insulin, important for the breakdown of sugars.

If born now, your baby would have a 20% chance of survival, the odds going up with each passing day. By this week, your baby weighs a little over 1 pound (500g). Its crown to heel length is 11 inches (28cm).
